Set the lighting

Lighting is very important for the mood. Pamper yourself and get some scented candles, but make sure you don't have clashing scents. Floating water candles can also be nice as long as you're not bothered about your hair catching on fire, which is very unlikely.

Generally the less lighting the better, make sure that you turn off the lights and if it's bring close the curtains. It's nice just looking at the candles flicker against the walls and through the water.

Find your favourite music

Music is a great way to set the atmosphere and your mood. Find your favorite music and make sure you have enough music for your bath session. Nothing is worst than having to get up to change the music. Best is if you had a remote, but be careful not to use mains power or get your player wet!

Generally I prefer softer music, but go with whatever you like. Or buy special bathtub music and yes there is a section just for tub music- click on this link for some examples: Bath Tub Music from Amazon.com.

Choosing the right soaps and scents

Consider using bath oil, bath milk, bath salts, bubble baths, fizzling bath balls. If you haven't tried all these combinations try them and find out which one suits you. Also consider putting in a few drops of essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus, rose, jasmine and bergamot.

If you have some flowers handy try adding in petals, soft rose petals are nice. Just make sure that you strain them out after your bath to avoid clogging your pipes.

Bubbles or no bubbles?

Having a hot tub is nice, but most people don't have the luxury of the space or time to install a new hot tub or spa tub. Consider buying a spa mat, that goes into your existing tub. Before you buy note that some brands can be loud, do your research and this could be a relatively inexpensive way to feel like you're in a spa tub.

Here are some bath mats you might want to consider: bath mats from Amazon.com

Turn off your phones both your land lines and your mobile phones. If you have pets feed them and put them outside if possible. Tell the rest of the household (if any) that you are going to relax in the bath for a couple of hours and make sure you clear your appointments. If time is really short, set an alarm to tell you when you need to get up, nothing is worse than looking at your clock every few minutes!

Use moisturizer after your bath

Long baths can open up your pores and remove oil from your skin, so after your bath remember to put on moisturizers like cocoa oils, moisturizer butter to ensure that your skin doesn't dry out. If possible try putting your creams next to your bath or heater to make sure they aren't cold to the skin.

Try not to clean the windows in the heat of the day

The best times to clean the windows are in the morning or at night. That's when the water off your windows will evaporate less and leave nasty streaks, even better is when it's cloudy or after the rain when the humidity is higher.

For something quick use newspapers or brown paper

Using newspapers, brown papers, chamois, or any hard papers that won't flake and leave lints can be handy and useful for cleaning windows. Especially those that are too small for normal squeegees. But note that sometimes these can leave the windows statically charged and may attract more dust. You might want to use gloves if you are dealing with newspapers to avoid getting prints on your fingers.

This may also be useful if you use squeegees to remove any stray streaks.

Microfiber cloths are great too

Microfiber cloths are great to use along edges between the window and the edges. Make sure that the cloth is slightly damp and wipe carefully around the edges. Try not to use softeners when cleaning the cloths as it may reduce the absorbency and the effectiveness.

These can be great to get right of dirt from your window frames and sills.

Use a squeegee!

Invest in a good squeegee, all professionals use this, especially for large windows. Firstly notice the width of your windows, make sure that if you have small windows you might want to consider to get two sizes or just one to handle all your needs. Note that for small windows you might want to use clothes or paper.

Test the rubber, make sure that it's soft and not hard, some squeegees allow you to adjust the tension and change the rubber, you might want to consider that when you buy. Also remember how high your windows are, if it's pretty high then you might want to invest in a longer handle.

Perfecting your squeegee techniques

Here are some tips in using the squeegee you might not have tried:
  • The most important point is to wipe clean your squeegee after each stroke!
  • Always work from the top down, either up and down, or left and right working your way down and overlapping your strokes.
  • Try using up and down on the outside (which is easier for upper stories), and left and right on the insides, that way you'll know which side of the glass your streaks are.
  • If your squeegee squeaks then you probably don't have enough soap in your solution, apply more soap to the glass and try again

Over time hard-water runoff from your tiles or rain falling through metal can leave stubborn mineral stains on your glass. To get rid of these try using extra rubbing alcohol with your solution, or you can use cleaners that use oxalic acid.

You might also want to try to use polymer coatings to help put a layer of coating on top of your glass to help stop minerals to directly coat the glass again, but you'll have to apply these regularly.

When you're at the destination try to keep the same temperature and humidity as you're use to. Ways of increasing humidity are water in the bath tub, hanging wet towel in your room where there's airflow, damp cloth on a heater or hot device. Crash diets typically causes your body to lose glycogen (carbohydrates) and water instead of fat. It also causes your body to lower the metabolic rate. It doesn't take much to lose weight if your body is in perfect balance (you are consuming all the calories that you are eating), then by not drinking say a sweet can drink (100 calories) every day you can lose 10 pounds (4.5 kg) in a year! Generally 3500 represents 1 pound (0.45 kg), therefore 100 x 365 means 10 pounds (4.5kg). A small change can have a drastic effect to your health.

Not all providers are equal and just because you have the highest speed, ultimately you are limited by how many people are on your provider and how fast your providers are connected to other countries.

Get your friends on different providers to try some speed tests like SpeedTest.Net or check out their past results for providers at Global Service Provider results. Search on google for other speed tests!. Note if you are testing cable service providers try getting your neighbors to perform the tests since cable connections share the same pipe while ADSL providers have a dedicated connection to your service provider.

Power users use tabbed browsing!

Tabbed browsing can save you lots of time by:
  • Letting you load pages in the background, saving you previous loading times
  • Saves you from pressing back to get to a main page
  • Helps you keep track of multiple pages, without overloading your task-bar
Lets take an example if you are viewing 20 articles a each day, clicking back to get to the main page, and every page takes roughly 5 seconds to load, you will be saving yourself almost 1 day every year in time spent waiting!

Here are some power tips for tabbed browsing (IE, Firefox, Safari):
  • CTRL+T opens a new tab
  • CTRL and clicking on a link generally opens the link in a new tab.
  • ALT+D brings you to the address bar
  • CTRL+PageUp and CTRL-PageDown brings you to the next / previous tab (Firefox only)
  • CTRL-W close the current tab
Try tab plugins like Multizilla that also allows you to CTRL enter on the address bar to open tabs, redirect new windows to tabs, control position of where you tabs open and even load links in the background automatically!

On Firefox it's called the "Bookmarks Toolbar Folder", Safari it's just your "Bookmarks Bar", Seamonkey (a derivative of Firefox) it's called the "Personal Toolbar Folder". Sorry IE users, don't see anything there at least in IE7, but IE has the links sidebar, which I personally think takes up too much real-estate.

If you are using tabbed browsing just drag the tab to your toolbar and there you go. Normally the titles don't fit so right click and change the properties or the name of the site so that it makes sense to you.
