Remove the dock animations

If in doubt try to play in Media Player Classic
Especially if you have used the Kazaa Codec, try opening the video, audio via the Media Player Classic. Media Player classic plays FLV (web based videos from say YouTube), most mobile phone formats, VCDs, DVDs, Read media, even raw DVD formats like VOB files.

The official site for the player is http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli2/, but I find the best way to download the player is by downloading at http://codecguide.com/ or http://etplanet.net/download/files.php?cat=17. Not only will you get the player but almost every codec known to mankind!This works on everything from Windows 98 to Vista.

Upgrade your graphics card
If insist on using Aero Glass and all the special effects from Vista then you need a reasonably decent graphics card. Make sure the graphics card is at least 128 MB ram. When buying a new graphics card, you might want to consider the noise, heat and the power it consumes (so that you don't also have to upgrade your power supply).
