In order to save images from Safari / Mail, just click and hold down on the photo until you see Save Image, Open Link or Cancel. Click on Save Image.
Another tip for Safari is when you hold down the ".com" button for a second you will get a list of common domains, ".net", ".edu" and ".org", saving you typing 4 characters!

This is another battery saving tip, if don't need to get your emails immediately using Yahoo, Mobile Me or have setup your corporate Microsoft Exchange, then disable push by going to Settings > Fetch New Data > Set Push to Off. Emails will then be based on the Fetch time below on the same screen.
Set the fetch time for the email to an hour or manually to optimize your battery life the most.

Autolock is good at shutting off the screen, when is especially useful if you forget to when placing it in a pocket, bag, or anywhere else for that matter. Set it to a very small duration to ensure that as much as possible when not using the phone, that screen turns off quickly.

Did you know that there's an airplane mode, so you can safely use your iPhone on a long plane ride. To enable this simply look under Settings and turn Airplane Mode to ON. Once you've reached your destination, turn this back to OFF.
But here's a tip if you are in a meeting change to airplane mode to save your battery. You won't be able to receive calls or SMS's but that's probably what you want anyway!
